#340440 1900S H KOHLBUSCH DIAMOND GOLD ANTIQUE BALANCE SCALE. The scales were produced in the 1890's and early !900's by H. Kohlbusch in New York. They were travel scales and are easily assembled and disassembled. This scale is a balance scale complete with two hanging trays, different weights for determining the weight of the jewelry, and a small twizers (in the back of the box). The 50 karats weight is present, the other 3 spots are missing the weights. There is a small round box with miscellaneous apothecary smaller weights of 2c, 1c, .5, .25, .20, .10, .05, .02. There is a number 16 stameped on weight crossarm, H. KOHLBUSCH, NEW-YORK stamped on back of the case and the metal strip on the side of the box stamped "NY CITY APPROVED, TYPE 17 SERIAL Y-2". The box is 2-3/4" wide, 1-1/8 high, 6-1/8 long.
