#126 ND, .800 silver sugar bowl by Simon Rosenau (1839-1920) in Hanau heavy Rococo style, depicting an artist painting a portrait of a house wife on one side and mother reading a book to a daughter on the other. Marked with typical 4 marks: crowned SR mark, 800 and two effaced (city marks). In 1890s Simon's son Hermann Simon Rosenau (1861-1943) took charge of the company, but retired in 1932. He escaped from Germany to Paris, but in October of 1943 was deported to Auschwitz, where he perished. About ∅ 90mm, 140mm at handles x 85 mm on the top, 70mm tall and weighs 116 grams. Warn from use, but in very good condition otherwise. A Judaica item.

#129 1889, Sterling silver chatelaine (decorative belt hook worn at the waist with a series of chains suspended from it. Each chain is mounted with useful household appendages such as scissors, thimbles, watches, keys, vinaigrette, and household seals) by J. Millward Banks of Birmingham dated 1889. 5 appendages are: 1. Small flask, the same maker dated 1890, the top dated with sterling mark separately. 2. Basket 1891 by Cornelius Saunders and Francis Shepard of Chester with handle hallmarked separately. 3. Notebook 1890 by J. Millward Banks of Birmingham with 4 'bone' pages for notes, both sides of cover hallmarked. 4. Miniature Postal envelope 1891 by Charles Edward Soloman of Birmingham with postal cancellation date of London 3 Sept. 91 in black enamel and stamp in black and white enamel. Unfortunately the face of the Queen is erased. 5. Ca 1870, Sterling silver owl as a mechanical pencil by Sampson Mordan, silversmith who invented and patented first mechanical pencil. The owl has 2 color glass eyes and suspension ring. This appendage is the key to the value of this chatelaine. It sells by itself in the range of 500 pounds, 70mm open and 35mm closed. Stamped S. Mordan & Co. Whole chatelaine measures 210mm long and about 50mm wide. It is decorated with cherubs, flowers and grapes and weighs 100 grams

A lance on the left and a staff on the right, with letters K (кoпье - lance) and T (тpocть - staff) along the body of Christ, HИ on the left and KA on the right above slanted bat (victory), M Л / P Б (Mecтo Лoбнoe Pacпят Быть (Place where Crucifixion took place) below, The scull, symbolizing Mount Golgotha is set on the stones at the foot of the cross with letter ГГ (Гopa Гoлгoфa − Mount Golgotha) above on each side. Plain back. 395mm x 200 mm, almost as new. Very heavy and weighs 1352 grams or almost 3 pounds.
