One medal, of 75.6 gram has Berlin- Capital of GDR on the cartouche over the Brandenburg Gate and the Coat of Arms of GDR with "For the Protection of Workers and Peasants" legend around it. The other, 79.6 gram has the same reverse, but on obverse the legend 13 August 1961 Berlin is Capital of German Democratic Republic. The box has a 105 mm x 145 mm lithograph signed by artist in pencil glued to it and the small plaque with "City Commandant of People's Army for Capital of GDR, Berlin" below medals.
