#390551 1914 AE medal, silver plated to commemorate Belgian Gratitude for American Generosity by Godefroid Devreese (signed: G.DEVREESE obverse & reverse). Obv: LL. MM. ALBERT - ET ELIZABETH co-joined busts facing left. Rx: GENEROSITE AMERIQUE BELGIQUE - GRATITUDE / 1914 - Columbia gives wheat to Belgian family (much of Belgium's food was provided by a U.S. relief effort headed by future President Herbert Hoover). AU, silver plating did not lay evenly, #216; 70mm, smooth rounded edge. There were definitely difficulties at the mint with silver plating of that particular medal. I have seen several of them with similar problems. XF
